Appointed Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government (with special responsibility for Housing, Urban Renewal and Developing Areas) May 2008 to 2009. Appointed Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, with special responsibility for Housing and Local Services 2009 to present.

"I was delighted to represent Roscommon County Council from 1979 - 2003 and to be elected to the 30th Dáil in 2002 for the constituency of Roscommon/Longford. My priority for the constituency is the provision of improved infrastructure, roads, extension of the natural gas line for Roscommon/Longford, industrial jobs, decentralisation and tourism development. I will continue to support the areas of health, education, farming and tourism. I am always available to meet with individuals or groups to discuss issues or projects.
