Personal Details

I was first elected to Youghal Town Council in June 2009. My main aims as a councillor are to stimulate employment in the town; improve facilities in the town for young and old as well as raising all constituent queries with proper authorities.

As part of my work, I am a member of the Youghal Municipal Heritage Committee; Council rep board member to Community Radio Youghal and council rep to Youghal Community Alert Group.

My priorities are:

Employment
Unfortunately, during these tough economic times, work is no longer as plentiful as it ha the past decade. However, Youghal seems to have suffered a lot more than the rest of the country in terms of job losses: Youghal has lost at least nine factories over the last twelve years and with the building boom now well and truly over, the people of Youghal are having to move elsewhere (in some cases to other countries) to seek employment. If elected, I will make it a top priority to attract industry to this town and ensure that the towns citizens will not be forced to leave to find jobs elsewhere

Tourism
Youghal is (or should be) the "hot-spot" for tourism in the South of Ireland. Its history and beautiful beaches offer more to Irish and foreign tourists than any other town in entire country. It is my plan to put Youghal on the map so that it becomes a premier tourist spot in Ireland.
Also I feel that Youghal should now work harder than ever to reach the top of the Tidy Towns tables as this would show that we are more dedicated than ever to attracting tourists the town

Anti-social Behaviour
Youghal has suffered a great deal from anti-social behaviour over the past number of years and it is now worse than ever. I believe that the closing of Youghal Garda Station at 10pm and lack of respect for the town and its people by a small minority has caused this problem. I will campaign and lobby for the re-opening of Youghal Garda Station on a 24 hour basis until the people of Youghal get what they deserve.
