Political Record

Appointed Minister of State, with special responsibility for European Affairs at the Department of An Taoiseach and at the Department of Foreign Affairs in June 2007, a position he previously held from 2002 to 2004.

Appointed Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government in September 2004.

Past member of the International Ombudsman Institute and the Irish Council of the European Movement.

Dick received a United Nations Fellowship in Human Rights in 1979, the first Irish citizen to do so and he has been decorated by the French and Estonian Governments for his work on European Integration. Dick has also been honoured by the Assembly of the Western European Union.

Personal Details

Born Wexford March 1947. Married to Eleanor Griffin, three sons, one daughter. Educated Wexford CBS: UCD (DPA, BComm, Masters Degree in Public Administration). College lecturer in Public Administration and Public Finance at University College Dublin from 1978 to 2002.
