Cork County Council
In 2004, I was elected to Cork County Council as a first-time candidate. After the first six months working as an elected member of the Council, I decided to take leave of absence from my job in Bantry at that time, where I was working as the Youthreach Co-coordinator, to concentrate on politics full-time. Over the last five years I have continued, on a daily basis, to work hard in local politics to ensure that many issues and concerns are raised, debated and, where possible, solutions engaged. My Accomplishments and Positions held: Adrigole Family Resource Centre: Chairman of The Caha Centre Adrigole G.A.A. Club: Vice Chairman West Cork Development Partnership: Board Member West Cork Rural Transport: Board Member V.E.C. Youthreach Training Centre Board Member
Bantry Hospital - Overall strategy for Bantry Hospital.
Fishing Industry - I will continue to highlight the need for full engagement with the Industry by Department officials and Minister Tony Killeen.
Planning - The difficulties being experienced by rural farming families.
Employment - The need for job creation in West Cork to try and to sustain the local population.
