Anne comes from a strong Fianna Fáil family, and is a sister to Tom McEllistrim TD. She is the youngest candidate in the Tralee electoral area

Anne founded the cumann in NUI Maynooth while she was a student there and also Ógra Fianna Fáil in Kerry North.

Anne has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from NUI Maynooth and a Higher Diploma in Education. She works as a secondary school teacher.
