Cork North West Fianna Fáil TD Michael Moynihan has welcomed the announcement today that a leading technology firm VMware is expanding its business in Ballincollig, with the creation of 250 jobs.
Deputy Moynihan said: “This announcement comes as a major boost for Cork and for Ballincollig in particular. VMware is one of the world’s leading firms in cloud computing technology, which is a rapidly expanding industry with huge growth potential. The fact that VMware chose Ballincollig for this significant investment is an enormous vote of confidence in what Cork has to offer.
“The new jobs are high-value positions in sales and customer support. Recruitment is underway and there is already widespread interest from people across the county. There is no doubt that a significant jobs boost like this will have a ripple effect right across the local economy. VMware already employs 550 people across two sites and the company’s decision to further invest here helps place Cork as a hub for emerging high tech industries.
“Great credit is due to the IDA for their work in securing this high-value investment,” concluded Deputy Moynihan.
