Temporary accommodation needed urgently for Ballinamore students following school fire - Ellis

Leitrim Fianna Fáil Senator John Ellis has contacted the Minister for Education and Science Batt O’Keeffe TD this morning to ask him to source alternative, temporary accommodation for students attending Meánscoil Fatima in Ballinamore, Co Leitrim as a matter of urgency, following a fire at the school this morning.

 

 

Senator Ellis visited the school this morning and witnessed first-hand the destruction caused at the school by the fire.

 

 

“The staff-room and a number of the classrooms have been affected by the fire which broke out at the school this morning,” Senator Ellis said.

 

 

“I have already spoken with the Minister for Education and Science Batt O’Keeffe TD to ask him to instruct his officials to set about finding alternative, temporary accommodation for the students of Meánscoil Fatima as a matter of urgency.”

 

 

“I want to commend the fire services and the Leitrim County Council staff who handled the situation so well in such adverse conditions,” Senator Ellis concluded.
