Tánaiste welcomes investment in local schools

The Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mary Coughlan TD, has welcomed news that new classrooms have been approved for national schools in Donegal Town and Dunkineely.

The schools which have been allocated grants of up to€100,000 each, to develop additional mainstream classrooms are St Francis National School, Barnesmore, Donegal Town and Dunkineely National School. The new classrooms will be 80 square metres in size.

The Tánaiste stated: “I am delighted that these schools have been approved for new classrooms which will enhance the high standard of education provided in each. My colleague, Minister Batt O’Keeffe, is determined to

continue investing in the infrastructure of schools and has indicated that the Summer Works Scheme, to be announced in the coming weeks, will include measures to promote water conservation and cut water bills.”

The Tánaiste said the investment demonstrated the Government’s desire to continue investing in the productive capacity of the economy, to sustain

construction jobs and to provide schoolchildren and teachers with the best educational environment in which to learn and work.
