Local Fianna Fáil TD Michael Mulcahy has confirmed that more than 30 schools (34) across Dublin South Central have been included in the Summer Works Scheme announced by the Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills Mary Coughlan TD.
“The comprehensive Summer Works Scheme announced by the Tánaiste this week provides for much-needed structural and other works to take place in these 34 schools during the summer holidays,” said Deputy Mulcahy.
€122 million is being made available for the Summer Works Scheme with 1,480 schools benefit.
“The funding this year is being targeted at a series of small to medium-scale projects. The schools included in the Summer Works Scheme will benefit from a range of improvements in toilets and pavements, new windows and roofs, mechanical and electrical upgrades,”
“The schools that have been included in the scheme are being notified by the Department of Education and I look forward to seeing the improvement works commence as soon as possible.”
“The Summer Works Scheme is an important programme for the development of a safe and professional environment for our children. However the scheme also has the potential to generate work for trades-people and those in construction during the summer period," concluded Deputy Mulcahy.
