Statement by Minister Finneran on Roscommon County Hospital

“There are no circumstances either now or in the future where Roscommon County Hospital will close,” Minister Finneran said.

“Further to my statement on the 4th June 2010, I reiterate I have no indication from the Health Service Executive, or the Minister for Health & Children, that there are any proposals to reduce the existing services now being provided at Roscommon County Hospital. As I stated in 2006 it is important people needing hospital treatment and in particular inpatient surgery that they use the full services provided at Roscommon County Hospital”

“What was reported in the media over the weekend is sheer speculation and scare mongering and undermines confidence in the Hospital and people should be wary of overreacting to such a report” concluded Minister Finneran
