Paschal Mooney welcomes Fine Gael Mayor’s support for An Taoiseach Brian Cowen

Fianna Fáil candidate for the European Parliament Elections in the North West constituency, Paschal Mooney, has welcomed the support declared by the Fine Gael Councillor and Mayor of Clare, Madeleine Taylor Quinn, for An Taoiseach Brian Cowen.
"I was heartened by the enthusiastic support and encouragement for the Taoiseach shown by Mayor Taylor Quinn when he and I visited Clare on Monday," Mr Mooney said.
"For the first citizen of the county to express her full confidence in the Taoiseach to have the ability to do what is required to bring the nation and the country back on its feet is very welcome of course."
"But for such a positive endorsement to come from a Fine Gael councillor and a former Fine Gael TD, is very welcome indeed."

"The Taoiseach's does not have an easy job right now. He has tough decisions to make and many of them are very unpopular, but everything he is doing is with the best interests of the country and its swift economic recovery, in mind."
"It is easy and opportunistic of opposition parties to capitalise on this difficult situation, to make populist statements criticising cuts without being truthful to the people by telling them where they would make cuts."
"So, to see a Fine Gael councillor publically and enthusiastically declare her support for the Taoiseach is admirable indeed. This is the kind of co-operative approach we need to get through the current economic difficulties," he said.
