PANA CLAIMS ABOUT PRO LISBON COMPANIES SUCH AS INTEL “RIDICULOUS” – MINISTER BRADY

Minister for State and TD for Kildare North Aine Brady has today completely rejected claims by PANA that pro-Lisbon companies such as Intel support a military agenda for the EU. Minister Brady said: “It is ridiculous for the Peace and Neutrality Alliance to describe people who employ thousands of Irish people as militarists. It is now clear that No campaigners intend labelling anyone who disagrees with them as being linked to the military and closet warmongers.” “By attacking multinationals such as Intel, PANA is effectively undermining companies which are responsible for creating hundreds of thousands of jobs across Ireland. Intel, for example, is responsible for employing over 5,000 people directly and indirectly in Ireland.” “Furthermore, Intel has invested a massive €7billion in Ireland since 1989. It has also played a major role in transforming areas such as Leixlip and Shannon.” “Anti-Lisbon groups are intent on accusing anyone who supports the Lisbon Treaty of harbouring a secret agenda. It’s tiresome to hear the groundless arguments being repeatedly put forward by anti-Lisbon groups such as PANA.” “With just over a month go until people cast their votes on Lisbon, I would hope that we could turn away from baseless claims and instead focus on the facts,” Minister Brady concluded.
