Fianna Fáil spokesperson on Small Business, John McGuinness TD, has welcomed news that shows a 39 per cent increase in the number of professional jobs in January over December.
The Morgan McKinley Irish Employment Monitor also showed a 37% increase year-on-year from January last year and the highest number of new jobs recorded since October 2008.
“What is also noteworthy is that there were more vacancies than applications during January. 7,250 positions were vacant but 6,595 were seeking positions.”
“The survey also points out that, while much of the recruitment is in the multinational sector, indigenous companies are increasing, or intending to increase their headcounts.”
“This is very encouraging news and a sign of recovery in the jobs market. It is vitally important that that all positive news be highlighted so that we can build confidence for the future,” concluded the TD for Carlow-Kilkenny.
