Plans by Cork City Council to develop two all-weather playing pitches in Togher have been welcomed by Cork South Central T.D. Michael McGrath.
Cork City Council has applied to Cork County Council for planning permission to develop two new all-weather playing pitches on a site situated between Togher Community Centre and Togher Boys' and Girls' National Schools. In recent days, Cork County Council has sought further information on the planning application.
'This planned development of two all-weather pitches is to be warmly welcomed. The Togher area has suffered from a deficit in recreational facilities for too long, and I am delighted the City Council are taking the initiative to develop these pitches. I understand the Council has a grant allocation of €100,000 from the Department of Tourism, Culture & Sport for the project,' stated Deputy McGrath.
'These facilities, combined with the ambitious amenity project currently being undertaken by Togher Community Association at Lehenaghmore, will I am sure be widely used in the local community. I look forward to seeing the City Council proceed with these pitches subject to the planning permission coming through,' concluded Deputy McGrath.
