M3 opening a great boost for Meath - Byrne

The opening of the M3 motorway will provide a welcome boost to Meath according to local Fianna Fáil TD Thomas Byrne.

“I am delighted to see the M3 motorway open today.”

“I know that the Labour Party objected to the plans and called on the Government to prevent the road progressing. Other groups also objected due to the fact that Meath has many archaeological sites.”

“I am satisfied that the National Roads Authority took these views on board and that the M3 does not impact on the Hill of Tara or any other site.”

“I am mindful of the need to protect historical sites but the safety of road users must be considered.”

“I lobbied heavily for this road as I felt very strongly that it was a vital piece of infrastructure for Meath that would provide a major boost for the county.”

“This road will decrease journey times and increase driver safety.”

“The by-passing of Kells and Dunshaughlin is great news for residents and visitors to the towns also. It has the potential to open up the towns again and make them easier to move around,” concluded Deputy Byrne.
