The announcement that some 900 jobs are to be lost from Quinn Insurance Limited is extremely regrettable, according to Cavan/Monaghan Fianna Fáil TD Margaret Conlon.
“This news is devastating for the people affected and I want to express my solidarity with all employees of Quinn Insurance. It has been a very difficult and anxious time for everyone involved.”
“For those who will be affected by the redundancies I want to offer my sincere sympathy and my full support. My thoughts are with the people affected and their families.”
“Along with my Oireachtas colleagues, I have been working on behalf of the Quinn employees over the past number of weeks and we will continue to represent their needs at Government level.”
“I have spoken with the Taoiseach and the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation Batt O’Keeffe TD, and the Minister for Social Protection Eamon O’Cúiv TD, and I know that they are placing the highest priority on providing all the supports possible for those affected.”
“Dedicated information centres staffed by Government support agencies will be established on site in Cavan, Navan and Blanchardstown to help those affected seek the available assistance.”
“The possibility of drawing down European funding under the cross border Interreg Programme will also be fully investigated.”
“I want to again offer my assistance to those affected. We will continue to work closely with the workers representatives and I know that Minister O’Keeffe intends to meet with them early next week,” concluded Margaret Conlon TD.
