Kilkenny primary schools will receive funding for minor works in the coming days according to local Fianna Fail TD, John McGuinness.
“The funding will come from the Department of Education and will be used for small scale projects.”
“Each primary school in Kilkenny will receive €5,500 per school plus €18.50 per mainstream pupil and €74 per special needs pupil.”
“So, for example, a 50-pupil school will get €6,425 and a 300-pupil school will receive over €11,000.”
“This funding will be given to schools to spend how they see fit without having to refer to the Department but must be spent on the physical infrastructure of the school, items of furniture or equipment for educational use. The funding will be lodged into the school bank accounts over the coming days.”
“I know that this funding will be welcomed by primary schools in Kilkenny and will be put to excellent use that benefits the pupils,” concluded Deputy McGuinness.
