Keep pressure on IDA and Enterprise Ireland to follow up jobs announcement – Kenneally

Pressure must be kept on the IDA and Enterprise Ireland to deliver jobs for Waterford if we want more positive announcements such as the 65 jobs announced for the county today, according to local TD Brendan Kenneally. Deputy Kenneally was speaking after it emerged two companies are to create new jobs in Lismore and Tramore.

New pharmaceutical company QM Specials is expected to create 50 new jobs in Lismore while Chia Booster Distribution has announced that it intends to employ 15 people to help with the European distribution of the Chia seed, a new product in human and equine nutrition.

Speaking about the jobs announcements, Deputy Kenneally said, “I’m sure everyone in Waterford will join me in welcoming news of these new jobs coming to the county. In particular they will have a significant impact on Lismore and Tramore once the companies are up and running.”

“This is exactly the kind of positive announcement we’ve been looking for in Waterford, however news of new jobs has been few and far between for the county this year. The only way we will see more of these announcements is if we keep the pressure up on the IDA and Enterprise Ireland.”

“We have to keep reminding them of the problems we are facing in Waterford and the high levels of unemployment that the county is suffering from. We have a fantastic work force, great facilities and infrastructure so I see no reason why we shouldn’t be able to attract more investment and job opportunities to Waterford. With that in mind I will continue to raise this subject with both state agencies,” Deputy Kenneally concluded.
