Ireland’s low corporation tax is a key component of our economic recovery and is essential for north Kildare according to local Fianna Fáil TD and Minister of State, Áine Brady.
“Our 12.5% Corporation Tax is a key component of our economic recovery strategy so I was pleased to see that the Government has been emphatic that it is not up for negotiation.”
“Foreign firms in Ireland support up to 240,000 local jobs so it is essential that they are given the necessary supports.”
“Since I got elected in 2007, I have kept in regular contact with the Multinationals based here and I have seen the positive impact of the low corporation tax for North Kildare, with successful foreign multinationals such as Intel, Hewlett Packard and Pfizer (formerly Wyeth) basing themselves here. All of these companies have made substantial financial investment in their plants and workforces over the years and have developed string links with the community.”
“These multi-nationals not only provide essential local employment but also a positive knock-on in the local economy.”
“NUI Maynooth has also formed strong and productive ties with our local multinationals, training and educating the high-skilled workforce and collaborating on valuable research.”
“Ireland is the number one in the world for jobs created by Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) according to IBM’s Global Location Trends and despite the fact that FDI fell by 30% worldwide last year, in Ireland the decrease was only 4%.”
“North Kildare is a very strong example of how a low corporation tax rate can attract and retain high quality multinationals,” concluded Minister Brady.
