"I am very pleased to be able to announce substantial funding of €375,000 for the refurbishment and restoration of this beautiful historic building" said Deputy Hoctor.
The town-centre building has been used by Conradh na Gaeilge since the 1880s for a long number of years and was recently purchased by the Conradh.
Following a deputation from Conradh na Gaeilge organised by Deputy Hoctor last year with Minister for Community Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs, Eamon O'Cuiv, the Minister indicated his full support for the project.
"Nenagh is one of the few provincial towns in the country which may boast its own Irish language centre in the ownership of the local people", claims the local TD, who herself is a native of Pearse Street.
"I have worked closely with the committee on this exciting project from an early stage" Deputy Hoctor continued, "they are to be commended for their foresight in endeavouring to undertake the challenging task of refurbishment".
"I am anxious to see the building renovated so that it may be used once again to its full potential".
"Is dea-scéal mór é go bhfuil deontas iontach seo ag teacht chugainn san Aonach chun cuma mór a chur ar an bhfoirgneamh stairiúil seo, I lár an bhaile" a deir an Teachta Dála áitiúil.
The building itself has protected status and Conradh na Gaeilge will receive approximately 80% of the cost of the refurbishment, the maximum grant available, to complete the works at the Pearse Street building.
