There good news for Ballymahon as St. Matthew’s is due to receive funding under this year’s allocation under the School Building Programme according to local Fianna Fail TD, Peter Kelly.
“I met with the Minister for Education, Batt O’Keeffe on several occasions regarding St. Matthew’s so I am delighted that funding is due to be provided which will allow the school to go to tender and proceed with construction.”
“The funding will allow for the school to refurbish their existing building and construct additional classrooms.”
“This is great news for the pupils and teachers of St. Matthew’s who have worked hard with the Principal Herbert Farrell, the Rev Cannon Padraig McGowan, the Board of Management and local Councillor Barney Steele to secure this project.”
“The refurbished school and additional classrooms will help to enhance the learning environment for teachers and students alike.”
“I am confident that this project will now be able to progress as quickly as possible. It will also provide a welcome employment boost for local construction workers,” concluded Deputy Kelly.
