Further funding boost for youth services in Kildare – Minister Brady

There is to be further Government funding for youth services in north Kildare according to local Fianna Fáil TD and Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children Áine Brady.

“Last week I was delighted to see that the Leixlip Youth and Community Centre in Newtown House secured funding for staffing of €38,066.”

“The youth services at Newtown House are now to receive a further boost of €8,000 for a youth café. This is a great resource for local young people, giving them a positive focus and a safe, secure place to come together and socialise.”

“It is really important that we continue to support young people in the area and the provision of youth services is vital. Providing positive peer support assists young people to make better decisions about how they spend their time. It is important to provide activities and a secure location for young people.”

“In my position as Minister of State at the Department of Health and Children I am fortunate enough to meet many who work in the area of youth services and I am continually impressed by their commitment to young people in their communities. I can see the real value of their contribution. I would like to congratulate the workers and volunteers at the Leixlip Youth and Community Centre for all of their hard work and dedication,” concluded Minister Brady.
