Funding boost for Kildare based counselling service – Minister Brady

Over €2.6 million has been allocated to the Kildare based counselling service ACCORD according to local Fianna Fail TD and Minister of State, Áine Brady.

“The Minister for Social and Family Affairs, Éamon Ó Cuiv has approved funding for the ACCORD Central Office who have been awarded over €1.2 million and ACCORD Centres Nationwide who have been awarded over €1.4 million.”

“This funding will enable ACCORD to provide a service to hard press families and individuals around the country.”

“The funds will allow ACCORD to plan for the future and allocate the funds where they are needed most.”

“More than 50% ACCORD’s services are provided by volunteers for no fee which allows the organisation to offer services to clients at a much reduced rate or free of charge where necessary.”

“This is particular important for families who are hard-pressed financially as money worries often contribute to the difficulties that are causing them to seek help.”

“ACCORD conducted over 40,000 counselling sessions last year, an increase of 11% on the previous year.”

“I am happy that this funding has been awarded and will assist ACCORD in their work.”

“This increase in people seeking the ACCORD services also shows the effectiveness of the services and the workers and volunteers at ACCORD must be commended for their commitment and dedication,” concluded Minister Brady.
