Four Kerry schools to be allocated extra teaching post - McEllistrim

Four Kerry primary schools are to be allocated an extra teaching post according to Kerry North TD Thomas McEllistrim.

Coolard Mixed National School in Listowel, Curraheen Mixed National School in Glenbeigh, Ballybunion Boys’ National School and SN Naomh Bríd in Listowel will benefit from this announcement.

The posts were allocated to primary schools that had increased enrolments in the current school year and who, as a result of last year’s pupil teacher ratio change lost out on a teaching post in the current year by either 1, 2 or 3 pupils.

“I’m delighted that four Kerry schools have been allocated extra teaching posts,” said Deputy McEllistm. “We all know the importance of education and having more teachers in Kerry schools promotes a higher standard of education. This will benefit not only the children in the schools in question but will have wide ranging benefits for the wider community,” Deputy McEllistrim concluded.
