Minister for Housing and Local Services and Roscommon South Leitrim Fianna Fáil TD Michael Finneran has welcomed the allocation of supplementary funding to assist Roscommon County Council and Leitrim County Council to meet costs associated with the emergency activities undertaken by them following the recent flooding.
€1,015,000 million was allocated to Roscommon County Council and €525,000 was allocated to Leitrim County Council in the last week or so, he confirmed.
“Roscommon County Council and Leitrim County Council contended with unprecedented circumstances during the recent flooding and they did an exceptional job,” Minister Finneran said.
“This supplementary funding is intended to assist with the immediate costs incurred in dealing with the crisis such as emergency staff, materials and equipment, and the costs of social housing and the clean up.”
“The funding was sanctioned by the Government in the week leading up to Christmas and I know it will be welcomed by Roscommon County Council and Leitrim County Council given the constraints on local government finances at this time,” Minister Michael Finneran TD.
