By opposing plans to correct the public finances by 2013, George Lee has yet again shot down his own party’s budget policy.
“Last April, Richard Bruton called for the government to do the ‘heavy lifting’ on the public finances now. He even called for a correction of €5.4 billion in 2010. This is Fine Gael policy.”
“Yet not for the first time, George Lee has rejected this. He did it at the Magill Summer School as well. This morning he repeated it on the Pat Kenny show.”
“This is not credible for Fine Gael. George Lee is being paraded by them constantly as their star economics spokesman yet he is constantly at odds with his own party’s policy. Remember as well that this week they appointed him to chair their business forum.”
“Who speaks for Fine Gael on this? Who is leading policy, the team captain or the celebrity player? Can the Fine Gael team be taken seriously when it is so clearly divided.”
