Welcoming the announcement of a Government-led feasibility study into the establishment of an Enterprise Park, or ‘Innovation Hub’, at Ireland West Airport Knock today, Deputy Flynn said it marked the start of an exciting project for the county and the west of Ireland.
“I am delighted that the Government and the authorities at Ireland West Airport Knock are working together to see what can be done to maximise the potential of the airport in terms of job creation and the attraction of investment.”
“The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation Batt O’Keeffe TD, was in Ireland West Airport Knock today to announce a joint initiative by Ireland West Airport Knock and Shannon Development. A feasibility study into the establishment of an Enterprise Park at the airport will be completed by September. “
“Shannon Development is a Government owned regional development company that will work with the airport to investigate the potential for jobs and how then Government can assist in their creation.”
“Areas that it will focus on in particular include the aviation business, tourism, marine, energy, food and the life sciences.”
“This is very exciting development for Mayo and I look forward to seeing the report in September.”
“I am working with my Government colleagues to ensure that every possible opportunity is investigated and maximised to create jobs in Mayo and this represents a significant and unique opportunity in my view. Shannon Development has considerable expertise in the development of business parks having been involved in creating the likes of the Kerry Technology Park in Tralee which employs 300 people, and I am very hopeful that we can do something similar in Mayo,” concluded Beverley Flynn TD.
