Ellis welcomes provision for Rural Transport Programme in Budget 2010

Leitrim Senator John Ellis has welcomed the provision of €11 million in Budget 2010 for the continuation and maintenance of the Rural Transport Programme.

“I am happy that the Rural Transport Programme was prioritised by the Government in the budget for next year,” he said.

“Many people in Leitrim benefit from services under the Programme and I know that it would be a significant loss to them should it not have been continued.”

“I lobbied hard for the service to be maintained when it came under threat earlier this year and I want to welcome the confirmation from the Government in the budget for next year that the service will continue.”

“€11 million is being provided to operate the Programme next year,” Senator Ellis concluded,
