Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs, Éamon Ó Cuív TD has questioned Labour Party Leader Eamon Gilmore's latest comments to RTÉ regarding temporary bank nationalisation.
"Mr Gilmore, I've a simple question for you - if nationalisation on its own was a solution, why did the nationalisation of Anglo Irish Bank on its own not solve the problem?
"The answer is quite simple - nationalised banks have to conform to the same banking laws as private banks.
"Therefore a NAMA-type approach is also needed. It is interesting to note that the NAMA-approach was supported vigorously by Ruairí Quinn on RTÉ's The Week in Politics programme a few months ago," concluded Minister Ó Cuív.
