The news was confirmed to Deputy Dooley by his colleague the Minister for Education and Science Batt O’Keeffe TD, and he welcomed the news saying that it represents ‘an important milestone in the process towards the construction of the new school’.
“The contract for the design works for the new school will now be signed within days and this will be a welcome development towards the starting of construction of the project, which has now been under discussion for more than 10 years,” Deputy Dooley said.
“I am delighted that real progress is now being achieved.”
“There have been considerable delays in the development of the new school building and I know that this news will be warmly welcomed by the school’s patrons, board of management and principal, who have all worked tirelessly to get the new school to this stage.”
“I would like to commend them on their efforts and I will continue to work closely with them until the much needed new building is completed. I would be hopeful that construction will begin next year,” Deputy Dooley concluded.
