Corrigan asks Minister for update on Carrickmines roof collapse

Local Fianna Fáil Senator, Maria Corrigan, has tabled a matter on the adjournment to the Minister for Housing, Michael Finneran TD, following the collapse of a roof in a Carrickmines apartment block.

Senator Corrigan will raise her concerns to Minister Finneran, asking him to outline if the incident will be investigated by the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) as a matter of urgency.

"I am also seeking a timeframe on a report and whether or not there will be spot-checks carried out on similar apartment complexes," she said.

Senator Corrigan continued, "I will ask the Minister if there are plans being made by the HSA to issue the necessary instructions or recommendations at this time."

"I will be recommending to the Minister that it should also be the responsibility of the developers, management companies and the local authorities to carry out their own inspections in the interim."

"This is an extremely worrying time for residents in the area and it is vital that we reassure people that everything is being done to ensure their homes are safe," said Senator Corrigan.
