Dublin South Senator Maria Corrigan has confirmed that contractors are being invited to express an interest in the construction of a new school building for St. Colmcilles Junior and Senior School, Knocklyon. St. Colmcilles is currently the biggest national school in the country and caters for 1,400 pupils.
“The Pre-Qualification of Contractors notice for this important project has been published on www.etenders.gov.ie. This allows for qualified contractors to now express an interest in construction of the project. Both present buildings will be demolished and will be replaced with a three-storey building with accommodation to include general purpose rooms, libraries, meeting rooms, special education rooms, atriums, administration office, car parking spaces and play areas.”
“The new school accommodation, which is innovative and exciting in its design, will provide purpose-built accommodation and additional facilities for students and improve the learning environment at St. Colmcilles. A huge amount of time and energy has been expended on this building project and enormous credit is due to the work undertaken by the School Teams, Boards of Management, families and residents.”
“I’m delighted the Tánaiste and Minister for Education and Skills Mary Coughlan is progressing this important development at this time. From all of the applicants received a short-list of 10 will be compiled before the process can progress to the next stage.”
“The construction of the new school accommodation is very important to the local community and I will be monitoring its progress closely,” concluded Senator Corrigan.
