A special advisor in An Taoiseach’s office has been appointed to act as a co-ordinator for the Shannon LNG project, Kerry North Fianna Fáil TD Thomas McEllistrim has learned. The purpose of the appointment is to help address the application of permits, licences, third party access and other issues.
Speaking about the appointment, Deputy McEllistrim said, “This appointment should pave the way for the Shannon LNG project to achieve more of the various tasks and issues facing it. There have been a number of delay problems facing the project over the months when it comes to applying for various different requirements. My hope and expectation is that with a new co-ordinator in place we should see these delays reduced and allow all these requests to be processed in a quicker and more efficient manner.”
“That will have a positive impact on Shannon LNG and all those associated with the project. More importantly this will help business interests from Kerry affiliated with the project and should lead to a lot of good local news as we see this develop and move from this point onwards,” Deputy McEllistrim concluded.
