Thomas Byrne T.D. has welcomed the announcement by John Curran, T.D., Minister of State, of funding of over €2,400 for East Meath Active Retirement Association under the Scheme of Community Support for Older People (CSOP).
Byrne stated: ‘I warmly welcome this announcement of funding under the Scheme of Community Support for Older People. I am particularly pleased that East Meath Active Retirement Association will receive over €2,400 euro of funding.’
'The purpose of this Scheme is to encourage and assist the community's support for older people through the community based provision of socially monitored alarm systems, and security equipment such as sensor lighting, window locks, door locks, door chains and smoke alarms.'
'The installation of this equipment will afford peace of mind and enhance the safety of many older members in our communities. I wish to express my gratitude to the voluntary groups throughout Ireland for their active involvement in bringing the benefits of this Scheme to their communities' continued Byrne.
'Applications can be made throughout the year, thereby allowing applicants to benefit from the wide range of security aids available as the need arises' concluded Byrne.
