Breathnach believes Job Creation should be Top Priority

Cllr Declan Breathnach, Fianna Fáil Candidate for Louth, believes that job creation and economic growth should be the main focus of Louth’s elected representatives in the next Dáil.

Breathnach met with Dundalk Chamber of Commerce this week to discuss plans for economic development in North Louth over the next few years. Breathnach insists we need a solid jobs and growth plan which involves realistic initiatives addressing the public finances, improving our competitiveness, pursusing pro-enterprise policies and maintaining a major capital investment programme. Real progress is being made in the enterprise economy with exports and FDI showing great resilience.

Breathnach welcomes moves by the Government who are undertaking a number of key, strategic initiatives to create new jobs and get people back to work including Trade Investment and Tourism Strategy, the Innovation Fund and other measures to help aid agriculture, tourism and the construction industry. Enterprise Ireland in 2011 alone will help 1,200 businesses in research and innovation activities in Ireland.

Breathnach states that ‘Louth due to its strategic location, excellent infrastructure and highly educated workforce has the capacity to be ahead of the curve in beating this economic downturn.’
