Longford Fianna Fail TD Peter Kelly has welcomed the news that the tender has been approved for the renovation of Ballymahon Library.
“My colleague, the Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government, Michael Finneran TD has informed me that the tender for the renovation of Ballymahon Library has been approved.”
“The Minister is also awarding a grant of €900,000 for the project.”
“This funding will assist towards the renovation and extension of the Old Courthouse building and will include adult and children’s lending areas, a learning and reference area and a multi-purpose space for meetings and exhibitions as well as internet facilities.”
“The extension will enhance the existing services while still protecting the structure of the old building.”
“This is great news for the people of Ballymahon and will provide a positive focus for the community. Use of libraries is on the increase nationally and I am sure that these improvements will encourage more frequent and new visitors to Ballymahon library,” concluded Deputy Kelly.
