Local Fianna Fáil TD Margaret Conlon has said that the appointment of the design team for the Monaghan Multi User Educational Facility is a significant step forward for the project.
The team will be assigned with the task of developing a top of the range education facility on the site of the Old Army Barracks in Monaghan Town.
“I am happy to see that the design team is now been appointed. I am keen to see the development of the facility progressing and I have been working with my colleague, the Minister for Education and Skills, Tánaiste Mary Coughlan and the CEO of Monaghan VEC Martin O’Brien to get it advanced as quickly as possible. “
“The design team will work on a feasibility study and it’s hoped that a master plan of the site will be prepared within the next six weeks.
“It’s expected that a planning application will be lodged before the end of the year.”
“The new facility will be home to new buildings for Gael Scoil Ultan, Colaiste Oiriall, MIFET.”
“The work to be conducted will also have the very welcome consequence of some much needed employment opportunities and that is one of the reasons I am so keen to get it moving as quickly as possible,” concluded Margaret Conlon TD.
