Dublin South East T.D. Chris Andrews has confirmed a major funding boost has been secured for the Rathmines Sports and Leisure Complex with the allocation of €3 million euro to Dublin City Council.
“I’m delighted to confirm the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport Mary Hanafin has allocated €3 million to Dublin City Council which will have a huge benefit for the Rathmines Sports and Leisure Complex - a fantastic addition to the local community area.”
The complex includes a 25 metre swimming pool with a floating floor, gym, fitness studio and a large sports hall.
“The Minister’s department had previously allocated €1 million towards the Rathmines project under the 2008 Sports Capital Programme. I have been working very closely on this issue for the community and this is a very important commitment from the Government, particularly at this time. I know this news will be very welcome in the community, among businesses and residents.”
“The Minister recently accompanied me on a visit to Rathmines Sports and Leisure Complex to see for herself the great services on offer to the public. I want to thank the local business community, management at the complex, the public, Dublin City Council and Minister Mary Hanafin for the commitment they have all shown to this project,” concluded Deputy Andrews.
