Kerry County Museum in Tralee is to receive a tourism boost after it was allocated €9,000 in funding, according to local TD Thomas McEllistrim. The money has been provided to assist the museum with its family programming and has been made available under the Government's Support for Regional Museum's Programme.
Speaking about the announcement Deputy McEllistrim said, "This is a boost for Kerry County Museum and I'm sure it will help the museum to attract even more tourists in the months ahead. It is also a testament to the fantastic work that has been done by those associated with the museum."
"Kerry County Museum is a tremendous resource for the people of Kerry and all our visitors. It is clearly one of the best museums in the country, having been awarded the 2009 Museum of the Year Award. I think that with this funding they will be able to build on their previous successes and bring forward more innovative and interesting programmes."
"Everyone in Kerry can look at the Kerry County Museum as a great source of pride and I am delighted that this funding has been made available to them to help them continue to build on all their success," Deputy McEllistrim concluded.
