90 new jobs for Dublin a reason to be hopeful - Ardagh

Fianna Fáil Dublin South Central TD Seán Ardagh has welcomed the creation of 90 new jobs at Dublin-based Sierra Support Services which has won a contract worth up to €60 million to provide installation, maintenance and testing services of domestic boilers to Bord Gáis Energy.

“This is great news and a sign of growing confidence in the business community.  I understand the first 20 of these jobs will be based in Ballymount in management and administration and will be full-time positions.  The remainder of the jobs will be spread across the country.  I want to congratulate Sierra Support Services on winning the contract with Bord Gáis Energy and I’m very glad to see that there is an option to have the contract extended by two years with a total value of up to €100 million,” said Deputy Ardagh.

“We are now starting to see real signs that this terrible recession is coming to an end.  There is a growing sense of confidence in the business community and a number of respected economic commentators are now in agreement with the Government and expect a return to growth in the second half of the year,” added Deputy Ardagh.

“There’s no question it will take time for the recovery to filter down and have a positive impact on people who have seen real pain over the last year and a half.  I am acutely aware of the sacrifices that people have made and continue to make in order to help heal our economy and ensure we are ready to take full advantage of the recovery,” concluded Deputy Ardagh.
