Byrne stated: ‘I am delighted that a new Community Alert initiative has been launched for Stamullen. This, along with the news that the new Superintendent, Jim Cannon, has taken up his new position at the District Headquarters at Laytown Garda Station is a huge boost to the area.'
‘The new East Meath Garda District, which Superintendent Cannon has taken charge of, includes Stamullen and is recognition of the large population and the specific needs of the community here. This appointment follows high level representation made on my part to the previous Minister for Justice, Brian Lenihan T.D., and to An Garda Siochana.'
‘I requested that a Sergeant be appointed to Stamullen to oversee policing in the village and I also set the ball rolling on the set-up of the Community Alert Initiative for the village. I wish the Committee well. I will do all I can to be of assistance.'
‘I look forward to continuing to work alongside both the Gardai and residents to build a safer community in Stamullen' concluded Deputy Byrne.
