Minister Séan Connick TD, launches the Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority’s guide

Minister Séan Connick TD, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (with special responsibility for Fisheries and Forestry) launched the Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority’s (SFPA’s) “Guide to Compliance for the Irish Inshore Fleet”, today on board the Naval vessel, the LE Eithne at Galway Docks. The “Guide to Compliance for the Irish Inshore Fleet” is a concise guide that summarises the principle requirements that apply to Irish Registered fishing vessels in the under 15 meter fleet operating in Irish inshore waters. The SFPA produced the guide with the assistance of the Irish South and East Fish Producers’ Organisation and the Sea-Fisheries Protection Consultative Committee.

“This is a concise user friendly guide for inshore fishermen which I very much welcome. It is particularly heartening that it is the product of a fruitful collaboration between the Sea Fisheries Protection Authority and the irish South & East Fish Producers’ Organisation.I expect this will be of significant use to inshore fishermen when checking the regulations which are applicable in particular circumstances.”
