€350,000 for fire service jeeps - Cope

Minister Michael Finneran TD has informed Pat the Cope Gallagher that he has given approval to Donegal County Council to place tenders for 11 - 4 x 4 Jeeps for Donegal Fire Service. The jeeps will be allocated to the following Single Appliance Fire Stations – Killybegs, Dungloe, Glenties, Gweedore, Falcarragh, Milford, Carndonagh, Moville, Donegal Town, Stranorlar, Letterkenny.

The jeeps will be used to supplement the existing fire tenders and will also be used to enhance the safety of firefighters at road traffic accidents, attendance at bog fires and dealing with adverse weather conditions.

Funding for the tenders will be provided by the Department of Environment, Heritage & Local Government €300,000 and Donegal County Council €48,600.

Pat the Cope was high in his praise of all of the personnel involved in the fire service in Donegal, who provide us with a service comparable to the best under the stewardship of the Chief Fire Officer Bobby Mc Menamim.
