Looking for your support in European elections

Liam Aylward Fianna Fáil MEP has today said that he is calling on voters to support his election to the European Parliament so that he can support initiatives in Europe which will help economic recovery in Ireland.

Liam Aylward MEP said that " I want to maximise funding from Europe for a number of different programmes which support job creation in Ireland.

The policies that I am referring to include the areas of research and technology, re-training programmes, the Common Agricultural Policy, small and medium enterprises, capital projects such as the east west electricity inter-connector, the development of broadband and the Irish peace process.

I have served as the vice president of the climate change committee in the European Parliament.

I am acutely aware that we need to put in place policies which will promote the green energy sector in Ireland.

We must look to the challenges of climate change as an opportunity and not as a threat. And the opportunities from the green energy sector in the field of job creation are many.

We must be unequivocal in our support for the European Union project.

The European Parliament is a political institution that is taking serious decisions that will support Irish economic recovery."
