Looking for your support in European elections

Fianna Fáil T.D. Pat the Cope Gallagher and European election candidate for the North and West has today said that he is calling on voters to support his election to the European Parliament so that he can support initiatives in Europe which will help economic recovery in Ireland.

Pat the Cope Gallagher said that "I want to maximise funding from Europe for a number of different programmes which support job creation in Ireland.

The policies that I am referring to include the areas of research and technology, re-training programmes, the Common Agricultural Policy, the Common Fisheries Policy, small and medium enterprises, the development of broadband and the Irish peace process.

The European Union has played a very significant role in supporting the peace process in Ireland. It has been the largest donor to the International Fund for Ireland.

I will work hard to lobby to secure more funding for Ireland and make sure that Ireland stays at the heart of Europe.

We must be unequivocal in our support for the European Union project.

The European Parliament is a political institution that is taking serious decisions that will support Irish economic recovery."
