Ó Cuív Approves Further Projects

Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community, Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs today approved funding of €29,687 for 5 schools under the CLÁR Primary School Outdoor Play Facilities Enhancement Scheme.

The CLÁR Primary School Outdoor Play Facilities Enhancement Scheme is aimed at improving outdoor play facilities in small rural primary schools in CLÁR areas. The type of projects being funded are for the grassing/tarmacadam of play areas, the supply of goal posts, nets, basketball hoops, etc. and other recreational facilities for these outdoor play areas.

The CLÁR Programme is funding 75% of the cost in each case, to a maximum of €7,500, with the balance provided from local sources. The CLÁR Programme support in these cases will facilitate works to a total value of €43,552 to be carried out.

This latest investment in Primary School outdoor play facilities brings the total funding approved under this CLÁR measure to over €5.7m, in all benefiting 856 schools.

"This scheme has been very successful so far, with thousands of children in CLÁR areas now benefiting from the new equipment and improved facilities. We all know that good play facilities in schools are absolutely necessary, so I am delighted that the schoolchildren in these 5 schools are going to benefit from this scheme, just as many others have already done."
