Residents and environment to benefit as Waste Water Treatment Scheme progresses – Kennedy

Michael Kennedy, Fianna Fáil TD for Dublin North, has welcomed the signing of the contract for the first major contract of the Portrane, Donabate, Rush and Lusk Waste Water Treatment scheme.

“This will be of huge benefit to the community in North Dublin, providing modern waste water facilities for the four areas into the future as well as having a positive impact on the local environment,” said Deputy Kennedy.

The contract was awarded to Aecom Design Build Ireland ltd (formerly Earth Tech Irl.) and Siac Construction Ltd., and was signed on Friday, February 26th 2010.

“I support the work that has been done on this project to date by Fingal County Council and look forward to this project progressing to greatly improve water services in North Dublin,” added Deputy Kennedy.

The contract includes the construction of approximately 10 kilometres of pipelines; three main pumping stations; a 65,000 PE waste water treatment and a 600 metre marine outfall at Portrane.  It will take about two years to complete.
