O’Connor raises Tallaght graffiti with Minister

Dublin South West T.D. Charlie O’Connor has personally raised the issue of graffiti along the Luas line at Alpine Rise/Belgard Heights with the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government John Gormley T.D.

“The local community is very concerned about the image of the area the graffiti is creating.  The Minister has looked at the matter and informed me that he is completely satisfied that the Council (South Dublin County Council) has all the power it needs to act on this.”

“South Dublin County Council, which is controlled by the Labour Party, was granted additional funding of €60,000 in April to deal with graffiti and litter.  At that time I described the problem of litter and graffiti as an eye-sore and something that was totally unnecessary in Tallaght.”

“The Labour controlled Council has a responsibility to the community in the Alpine Rise/Belgard Heights area to deal with this issue comprehensively.”

“I will provide any assistance I can to the Council on this matter but they have the power to act on this.  They must do so without delay,” concluded Deputy O’Connor.
