Kennedy shocked by death of young man in Swords

Dublin North T.D. Michael Kennedy has expressed his shock and sadness at the death of a young man following a stabbing incident in Swords.

“I was very shocked to hear of this incident last night which has resulted in the needless death of a young man.  I want to express my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of this young man and personally called to the family this morning.  They are understandably deeply traumatised but greatly appreciate the support that has been shown to them in the community,” said Deputy Kennedy.

“I understand that there may have been an incident involving a group of young people which resulted in a row and the subsequent incident, this is obviously of huge concern.”

“The Gardaí, through the community liaison officers, have a great relationship with local Residents' Associations and the greater community in Swords and I understand have received a lot of co-operation following this terrible incident.  Anti-social behaviour is a very serious issue for me and I know the Gardaí are actively trying to deal with these issues in the constituency,” concluded Deputy Kennedy.
