Fianna Fáil TD for Dublin South West Charlie O’Connor has today secured a commitment from the Minister for Social and Family Affairs Mary Hanafin TD that two family resource centres in Tallaght have had their contract extended.
“This is great news for the Killinarden Family Resource Centre and St. Kevin’s Family Resource Centre in Kilnamanagh. These centres are pillars of the community in Tallaght, providing great resources and a social outlet for people living in Killinarden and Kilnamanagh.”
Minister Hanafin has confirmed to Deputy O’Connor that she has approved a further three year contract for the Killinarden Family Resource Centre in Killinarden, Tallaght up to 2011. A further three year contract has also been approved in respect of St. Kevin’s Family Resource Centre in Kilnamanagh, Tallaght up to 2012, subject to satisfactory work plan for the period 2010-2012.
“I am acutely aware of just how important these centres are to the people in Killinarden and Kilnamanagh. They are staffed by hard working people and I’m delighted to confirm this good news for them today,” added Deputy O’Connor.
It was announced in Budget 2010 that funding for the 107 Family Resource Centres nationwide has been maintained this year.
